Life. It is full of twists, turns, plans and the unexpected. Everyone believes in life that they are in control at some point. We think we know what are doing. We know where we are going. We have it all figured out. Regardless, few of us escape some sort of personal setback in life. Whether financial, emotional, spiritual or otherwise, I have found that most of these setbacks strike when we least expect. Many noted figures in business and life also reference personal tragedies or setbacks in their biographies as a catalyst for their own move from good to great.

Social and mobile media have evolved into important new tools for businesses, enabling them to better reach their target audience. Part of the overall “MBA experience” at the Mason School of Business involves making valuable connections to our community. At Mason, we encourage and develop future leaders of tomorrow through student government activities, club and committee involvement, leadership development mentoring, executive partner coaching and team-building. It is incumbent upon the leaders of tomorrow to not only strive to build better businesses, products and services, but also to build a better community. It should always be our goal to “leave things a bit better than we found them”. This has been my mantra for all of my professional and academic life.
The MBA Association is more than just the sum of its clubs and committees. The MBAA is a vehicle for communication, dialogue, networking and engagement. It is a critical ‘junction box’ connecting students with business leaders, community professionals, career recruiters, valuable alumni and most importantly, each other. Our clubs and committees offer students a way to join together through common interest to provide peer learning experiences and to provide a helping hand up into their desired career paths.
Our MBA Association is more than just a community of clubs and committees. It is more than frequent gatherings for social events, guest speakers or networking. Our MBA Association is about building a stronger community through increasing connections with alumni and civic groups. Most importantly, the MBA Association is about giving back.
